AC Crane Maintenance supplies and integrates high-performance Variable Speed Drive systems for overhead cranes, hoists, gantry cranes, long travel systems, cross travel systems, lifting equipment and heavy industrial motor control applications across South Africa.
A high-performance VSD gives far better control than a standard starter or basic drive. It allows smooth acceleration, controlled deceleration, improved torque control at low speeds and more accurate positioning of the load.
An input choke is installed on the supply side of the VSD to help protect the drive against supply disturbances, current spikes and electrical stress.
On larger crane and hoist drives, braking energy must be controlled properly. When a motor decelerates or lowers a load, it can generate energy back into the VSD. A braking unit helps control this energy and prevents DC bus over-voltage trips.
Brake resistors work with the braking unit by converting regenerated braking energy into heat. This allows the VSD to stop the motor safely and consistently without uncontrolled voltage build-up.
Our VSD systems are built as complete engineered packages, including high-performance drives, input chokes, braking units, brake resistors, MCCB protection, relay cards, control integration and panel upgrades.
